resume: In the town of Ebbing, Missouri, Mildred Hayes is grieving the rape and murder of her teenage daughter, Angela, seven months earlier. Angry over the lack of progress in the investigation, Mildred rents three abandoned billboards near her home, and posts on them: "Raped While Dying", "Still No Arrests?", and "How Come, Chief Willoughby?" The billboards upset the townspeople, including Chief Bill Willoughby and the racist, violent, alcoholic Officer Jason Dixon. The open secret that Willoughby suffers from terminal pancreatic cancer adds to everyone's disapproval. Mildred and her son Robbie are harassed and threatened, but to Robbie's chagrin, she stays firm about keeping the billboards up. While Willoughby is sympathetic to Mildred's frustration, he finds the billboards an unfair attack on his character. Angered by Mildred's lack of respect for his authority, Dixon threatens businessman Red Welby, who rented Mildred the billboards, and he arrests her friend and coworker, Denise, on trivial marijuana possession charges. Mildred is also visited by her abusive ex-husband Charlie, who blames her for their daughter's death

Oscar Wilde. He doesnt even have to tell anything. The glass was it. Wow. That black boy joy hug at 5:44 was all I needed ♥️I wish the moonlight cast got their moment that they deserved but I'm so happy to see that hug on stage. Another great performance from the talented Woody Harrelson! Some day he will win an oscar.
This probably is the most unlikely scenes to have made me cry. I simply couldn't contain my tears during this moment, it was so humane, so agonising and so beautiful.

You should keep it anyways. Uhhh no they're not the winners tf. I'm sorry. I love this film and I appreciate the message they're trying to get across but I just don't buy his willingness to be nice now. It's not like he was drunk or on drugs when he assaulted that kid and knocked him out a damn window. He knew exactly what he was doing and if he hasn't figured out now at his age that hate is bad then he is just a lost cause to me and a phony.
3:33 the moment they started to hear that they didnt win. I respectfully disagree with you. Lately Ive been seeing a lot of movies either getting excellent or horrible reviews. This movie should have been in the “just okay” category. One thing I agree with is yes Frances McDormand was a scene stealer and definitely deserved her Oscar nomination, but there were parts of the movie were very basic. While the sequence of events that happen were unexpected and caught me off guard, everything that happened was laughably cliche. Spoiler alert Scenes of man shooting himself because he has terminal cancer, billboards burning down, police station burning down, cheating husband shows up with young girlfriend, son trying to protect mother from abusive father by putting a knife to his throat, suspect intimidating victims mother by paying her a visit at her workplace, suspect bragging about killing his victim, and the list goes on. And I guess the message in the ending of the story was rapists deserve to be murdered even if they didnt commit the crime in this narrative but racist cops who send guys to the hospital and torture black people deserve our sympathy and second chance because they paid the price by getting burnt? Its a really adolescent way of looking at the world and shows no depth. Sorry B- from me.

My jaw practically fell off when I first saw this scene in the movie. sh*t the tone-shifts in this movie from hilarious - to shocking - to scathingly critical - to deeply tragic. It's emotional whiplash. Definitely one of the most memorable moments in Oscar history. It was insane watching this live. Love this scene and the use of orange juice as the “peace offering”. Orange is a combination of colors red and yellow. The main theme of this movie involve anger, represented by the color red. Dixon epitomized the color red with all the anger he exuded. Red (the character) was easygoing and docile, represented by the color yellow. “Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow. Wassily Kandinsky Amazing movie and actors.
Such a great film. It would probably would have been the most depressing film ever if it didn't have any humor. Stuck Chrismann. Carnage killed himself. That is one of the most cringe moments in history. 2 great films. Winner of 6 Oscars including Oscar Winning Mistake Picture: La La Land. See everybody people can change. Have a little faith. Its such a pity Moonlight didnt get there moment properly. They TRULY deserved this. Never has a movie won me over after really disliking it at the begining, it turned out phenomenal. Jordan handing off the award, and announcing the mistake to moonlight was great. i like jimmy but that was a pretty unprofessional way to handle this situation as the host. the best thing was seeing everyones reaction. Who ever gave him the wrong card is bagging groceries by now lmao. I agree with the ending I must say Midlred was the best caracter of the year and one of the best ever, and Frances Mcdormand was amazing in this movie.
This movie epitomises the shallow treatment of rural America which Hollywood churns out time after time. And it's directed by a brit! Pay your 12, sit still and shut up whilst one of your former imperial overlords explains to you, very slowly, why you stink.
Billy Bob Thornton has written about this type of movie (not this exact one as far as I know) and he's right. It does nothing to advance mutual understanding or art, which is surprising because this is from the maker if the superb In Bruges.
I thought this would be a good film. It isn't. It's the opposite of Sling Blade. That film dealt with broadly similar topics and situations but was ten times more powerful because it had truth and love running all the way through it.

As evryone keeps on hating him chief's departing words like Seek love be kind u r a gud man u just had bad luck just changes him as a human sayin their bond was amazing and the movie was oscarworthy.
