Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway was forced to apologise after Rob Rinder shared details about his new career venture.

The duo fronted Thursday's instalment of the ITV programme, discussing everything from the junior doctors strike to the final TV leadership debate between Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer.

But also during the show, Kate informed viewers about her co-star's new career move. Last week, the 46-year-old conducted his first orchestra at the Marylebone festival in London.

Asked how he ended up becoming a conductor, Rob explained: "They me do it because I am president of Orion orchestra, which is one of our country's best orchestras. This festival really is amazing and inclusive. We play classical musical to enable anyone to come and enjoy it."

Kate, 57, quizzed her colleague further, asking if he had been training for the profession. Rob admitted he began learning properly in lockdown, adding: "It's just a joyful thing and it is the most heavenly fun you can have with a group of people with your clothes on."

Next to Kate and Rob in the studio was Ranvir Singh, who asked the Judge Rinder host what piece of music the orchestra was playing. Rob explained the piece was by Mescani, before stopping as he commented on the face Ranvir was pulling.

The 46-year-old responded: "No, no! Me and Kate were just looking at each other for some recognition!" Kate joked: "I wanted to say Ranvir, of course it was! Why didn't you know?"

After the clips of Rob had concluded, the Life Stories presenter asked: "Can you conduct me in the show?" Rob seemed keen on the idea as he replied: "Yeah I'm in. I always say that - you're the conductor and I'm the first violin."

The mum-of-two turned Rob's comment into a playful joke, laughing: "You're the one with the skill and I'm the wafter." Rob declared: "I can't win!" as Kate issued an apology, saying: "Sorry to insult conductors everywhere by the way."

Elsewhere in the show, Kate sparked backlash from viewers as they issued complaints about her interrupting guests. Baroness Ayesha Hazarika and Ed Vaizey joined Kate and Rob in the studio to discuss last night's leadership debate.

However, attention turned to Kate as one social media viewer fumed: "Kate be quiet and stop trying to get so much air time."

A second declared: "Garraway’s style is dreadful. Always interrupting, not letting others speak. Most of the country fed up with it all now. Roll on next Thursday so we can get on with it. First time in my life and I’m still undecided. They’re all as bad as each other." Another wrote: "Kate Garaway stop interrupting, stop it!!!!!"
