Lake seniors graduate By Amanda Dixon amandata butnercreedmoornewscom CREEDMOOR A cer emony for the 2020 graduates of alls Lake Academy on Sat urday came off without a hitch although it looked quite dif ferent than graduations in past years The 53 candidates for gradu ation proudly walked across the stage to receive their diplo ma while family and friends watched from cars in the park ing lot The C0V1D 19 pandemic has created havoc with gradua tions all across the nation and the alls Lake Academy com mencement was no exception The senior advisors Jennifer rederick and Elizabeth Doer fler along with countless oth ers created a celebratory atmo sphere for the graduates even if they had to sit 6 feet apart The candidates for gradua tion slowly filled the seats in front of the outdoor stage on a muggy graduation day Many candidates turned to look for their families and offered a wave while others sat in deep thought before the ceremony began John A Watkins IV class president left the graduates with a thought: you do in life give up ailure will make you stronger It will help you better yourself and make you better prepared for the Salutatorian Gabrielle Griffin shared that alls finding joy in life as Williams did Steven Kearney Jr co valedictorian spoke of his friendly academic competi tions with fellow co valedicto rian Sara Vaught light of the coronavirus high school is a lot like toilet paper: You only miss it when it is Kearney said the past few months we have all connected with this quote in one way or learned how to perse Kearney added persevered through the bad grades and tough losses We persevered through the stress ful days and the days we need ed to go cry We persevered through our senior projects Parents placed signs on their cars in support of graduates that the graduates made best memories were made by just being together We will always be he said Afterward Vaught spoke of the good and bad times at alls Lake Academy from mak ing great friends to having to complete lengthy homework assignments of these things have made us stronger Vaught said class of 2020 has never been one to back down from a challenge We have always managed to Vaught told
